Beau Devereaux (b. Marshfield, WI, 1988) is an experimental expressionist and self-taught interdisciplinary artist. Born into the rural landscape of Wisconsin to rodeo parents, an outsider life on the road began early. Spending time between the Midwest and the prairies of South Dakota, the infinite landscapes of forests and western skies left their imprint on them from an early age, setting the stage for what would come later: a love of photography. Before turning to photography, Devereaux spent over a decade carving out time capsules of sound, and from this body of work emerged a series of releases supported by labels and publishers, both at home and abroad. Each release weaves together threads of emotional drift, romanticism, natural-world wonder, and poignant poetry, drawn from a dynamic reservoir of a life lived through curiosity.
After receiving a disposable 35mm camera as a gift in 2020, Devereaux discovered a deep passion for photography. Since then, they have used photography as a tool for introspection and to continually seek a deeper understanding of the world around them. Their photographic work filters these findings through four pillars that continually resonate throughout their practice: sexuality, emotion, memory, and location. Devereaux creates sonic and visual journals that trace a continuum between their earliest expressions and the path forward. Through these works, they hope to offer listeners and viewers a place to encounter their own reflections, memories, and stories of growth.
